Do you have a passion for writing or always wanted to explore and improve your skills? Do you have a novel inside you somewhere? Do you want to record your family history for your grandchildren? Or do you just enjoy learning new writing techniques, along with expanding and honing your skills?

IF SO, OUR WRITERS’ GROUP IS IDEAL FOR YOU!

The Writers’ Group provides a friendly setting for writers of all abilities and has been operating successfully for several years. Its aim is to encourage both new and experienced writers by providing positive feedback, by running stimulating and instructional exercises and occasional workshops from experts in various genres. We have found that people have many differing interests in the types of writing they want to pursue and so we have looked at increasing our skills in family history, local history, memoire, biography, poetry, short fiction, science fiction and novel writing. Both creative and factual writing is immensely personally satisfying and also aids communication.

It’s never too late to start!

In 2020 the Writers’ Group produced an anthology of stories, poetry, local history, etc., Write by the River, which continues to sell. Our aim is to produce another such anthology by 2023.
