The monthly topic was Rainbows and there were several interpretations of this topic.
Obviously, the rainbow associated with rain and sunshine was popular. Others chose the bird type of rainbow, the Rainbow Lorikeet.
This month’s photo of a rainbow over the Karuah River near Longworth Park was taken by Paul Mulvaney. The sun was shining on the hill in the background and the misty rain provided a nice bright rainbow over the water. Unfortunately, the pot of gold must have sunk to the bottom of the river as there was no sign of it anywhere.
The technical details of the photo are; it was taken with a Canon 7D digital camera with aperture of f/22, shutter speed of 1/13th of a second and ISO 1,000. The lens was a 24-105mm zoom at 105mm.
Some of our photographers complained that there had not been any rainbows for months. They were reminded that a sprinkler can be used to produce a rainbow anytime there is sun, sometimes you just have to think outside the square.
The Myall U3A Photography Group meets in the Uniting Church Hall on the 2nd Thursday of the month for the Show and Tell and on the 4th Thursday of the month for a workshop / tutorial session.
